The Ministry
History
Threads of Love was started in 1993 by Sissy Davis,
a retired school bus driver from Baton Rouge, LA. At
the request of a doctor from the local hospital,
Sissy and a group of ladies from her church began
making tiny gowns for patients who were born
prematurely and were too sick or too tiny to
survive. The group soon added day gowns, caps,
blankets, bonnets and other items to their sewing
list. Packets containing these items were
distributed to the parents of babies in crisis as a
gesture of saying silently: “God loves you and he is
with you.”
The most important part of the packets is the
enclosed prayer. The goal of Threads of Love is not
simply to dress babies, but to use these clothes as
a tool for reaching parents and families at a time
in their lives when they need to be reassured that
God is there and that He is always faithful.
Today
Currently, there are over 150 chapters across
America and in Canada...all wrapping these families
in Threads of Love.
Your baby’s items were made by the chapters of
Threads of Love located in Alpharetta, GA. Ladies
gather at Alpharetta First Baptist Church (west of
400) and Bridgeway Church (east of 400) for sewing
workshops once a month. We can always use more
willing hearts and hands. Sewing skills are a plus,
but not a requirement.
